AIVC - National is a member of the AIVC network of groups.
The Association of IVCs (AIVC)

Most parts of the UK are covered by local IVC Clubs, which together form the national Association of IVCs, otherwise referred to as the AIVC.   To help the member clubs of the AIVC work effectively together, the co-ordination of inter-Club activities and Club development  is administered by a volunteer National Committee (the AIVC Committee).

The officers of the AIVC Committee are elected at the annual National Conference Weekend (see picture right) from the delegates at the national conference.  They are generally experienced current or former Committee officers of either an existing Club in the Association, or from a similar organisation.  This requirement enables the AIVC Officers to be able to provide a variety of skills and knowledge to help member Club Committees make better use of their resources or opportunities.

The national AIVC Committee consists of the following Officers

Executive Officers:

  • Chairman - Chairs the AIVC Committee & Conference Meetings and provides the general direction for the Association.
  • Secretary - The principle administrative Officer of the AIVC, minutes meetings and ensures compliance with the Constitution by Committee Officers and member clubs.  Legal point of contact for the Association.
  • Treasurer - Looks after the AIVC finances, pays out officer expenses, manages the issue of publicity and development grants and prepares the budget for the Conference AGM.
  • News Officer - Prepares the artwork and organises the printing of the national inter-club newletter 'Newslines' and any national Address Lists.

Non-Executive Officers:

  • National Development Officer - Looks after grants and all matters relating to assisting existing Clubs and helping new Clubs to start.
  • National Communications Officer - Looks after all matters relating to this national web site, links to Club web sites and email communications within the Association between Clubs.

Non-Committee personnel

Regional Development Officers - Local point of contact to provide assistance and help from the AIVC Committee for developing existing or creating new clubs.   All RDOs must at a minimum be experienced officers from an IVC club or similar organisation.

Management of IVC Groups

Each club also has an AIVC Liaison Officer (ALO) whose main job is to co-ordinate activities by the group with other clubs in the AIVC.  The ALO also makes sure members of the committee and club can get to see the AIVC national newsletter 'Newslines' and other clubs bulletins sent to the club.

Clubs and the AIVC
The AIVC Committee does not take any active role in the general day to day management of its member clubs.  The primary roles of the AIVC Committees include acting as an advisory body on management and development issues and providing the infrastructure for inter-club communications.  The AIVC Committee is also responsible for overseeing the organisation of the national gathering of clubs at the National AIVC Conference and Fun Weekend in April.

IVCs are managed by the members for the members
Each club operates as an independent non-profit body which is managed by a committee elected at an annual general meeting from the members of the club. The clubs are required by their constitution to have no affiliation to any organisation that expresses any political, religious or racial views.

Club Committees
The committee in the club is responsible for all matters relating to finance, membership, activities and administration of the club.  This means that all the clubs in the IVC have developed into well managed social organisations that exist to serve the members in their local community.
