BRASSY - What's in a Name ?
During the week we discussed what to call our club
and ideas ranged from “BOGROLL” to “BAREASS” but in the interests of decency
(and getting affiliated to the RYA) we eventually chose “BRASSY” (Basingstoke
& Reading Association of Social Sailors & Yachtsmen/women). There were
17 people, mainly night school students from Basingstoke College of Technology
and Reading Adult & Community College. We had chartered 2 yachts from Plain
Sailing in Brixham, “Amalia” a 40ft Beneteau First 405 skippered by
Bob
Hookings with
Kim
Foster as mate and “Premiere Knight” a 45ft
Dufour skippered by Rod Emmer with Neil
Langton as mate.
