London IVC

London IVC, the leading social and multi-activity Club in London
IVC in London is one of the longest established multi-activity clubs in the capital and has more activities per member than any similar organisation. With 1,400 members and around 150 events per month, your only problem in IVC will be deciding which event to go to next.

Incorporating London Village
In January 2001, the London IVC incorporated the London Village social club which has successfully been providing social activities to professional people in London for over 20 years. The combination of the two organisations means that IVC is now the largest social club in London and is able to offer even more choice of social and leisure activities to its members.

IVC ... the national multi-activity club that is BIG in London
There are 46 IVC clubs throughout England, Scotland and Wales with a total membership of around of 6,000. As the largest club in the Association of IVCs (AIVC), London IVC is the main centre of communication for all the clubs in the UK. This means that as a member of London IVC, your job can take you to any part of the UK and you can continue your social life with an IVC club near you.

Run by the members for the members
IVC is a not for profit members club in which the majority of events are organised by the members themselves. This means that the range of events you can take part in within IVC is only limited by your own energy and imagination.

Activities in London IVC

The following are some of our popular activities for which a regular programme runs within our programme as a whole (many sports events being seasonal, of course).  These activities form "Sub-clubs" within the club as a whole.  These activities are also shared with some of the other 45 IVC Clubs throughout the UK.

SPORT: Biking, Cricket, Uni-Hoc
MUSIC: Dance (jive, Ceroc, latin), Keep-Fit to Music
GREAT OUTDOORS: Mountain and Moorland Walking (weekends), Conservation
WATER SPORTS: Canoeing, Punting and Boating, Sailing, Swimming, Waterskiing
RACQUET SPORTS: Squash, Badminton, Tennis
LANGUAGE: Public Speaking (workshops), Linguists (foreign language workshops)
DRAMA: Theatreboard (drama workshops)

All Sub-club events are hosted by one or more members, with each Sub-club as a whole being organised by one or more members with a particular interest in the activity.  Members are at all times welcome to host new events, or to start up a whole new Sub-club for an interest that they wish to share, if it is not already represented.

Activity-based weekends away are a particularly popular part of the Club's event programme.  There are weekends dedicated to a watersport, some to Mountain and Moorland Walking, and several a year combine more than one activity e.g. walking and cycling, multi-watersports, multi-activity (land and sea), in some of the finest locations around Britain.  Because we are a non-profit making club, they are organized at cost price, mostly by members, and area good fun way to get better to know others within the club.

Special Interest Groups

Some activities have to be done with friends ...
Although there is even more choice of leisure activities these days, it is often the case that the best time is had when activities are shared with friends.  IVC gives you the chance to expand your circle of friends and add new interests to your social life.

Wide range of social, leisure and sporting activities
IVC has a varied programme of events ranging from watersports to walking weekends, fringe theatre trips to dance classes.  These are listed in a Bulletin sent out monthly to all members.

IVC is unique in that there is not only a wide range of activities in the programme, but for most activities there is a regular programme of events which caters both for novices and enthusiasts in that activity.  So for example if a member were interested in sailing, he/she could (i) attend our dinghy practice sessions (every month over the summer), (ii) try out dinghy sailing as part of a multi-activity weekend, or (iii) take part in a weekend yachtcruise.  Members are free to participate in whichever events appeal to them most (subject in some cases to booking or limited numbers).
